2 Strand Cottage is a delightful semi-detached fishermens cottage set on the banks of the River Taff in the village of Laugharne, made famous by Dylan Thomas, in fact the cottage overlooks his Boathouse and the ruins of Laugharne Castle.
The cottage is set in a peaceful location with stunning views of the estuary, at very high tides you can occasionally even be cut off for a short while which adds to the cottage’s unique charm. The front terrace is the perfect spot to sit and soak up the wonderful view and watch the fishermen come and go. Step into the sitting room of this comfortable cottage with exposed beams and the wood burning stove ensures a cosy feel on chillier evenings. The pretty cottage style fitted kitchen/diner opens to the enclosed, rear garden with another sheltered patio where you can enjoy an al fresco meal. There is a twin room and bathroom on the ground floor and narrow steep stairs lead to the romantic double bedroom which nestles in the eaves and offers views over the water.
Perfectly positioned with shops and excellent pubs and restaurants all within a short walk, a visit to Dylan Thomas’s Boat House is a must, explore the beautiful coastline and banks of the estuary rich in flora and fauna. The wonderful, long sandy beach at Pendine is a 10 minute drive away with the next lovely yet little visited beach being Marros, officially the start of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The National Botanic Garden of Wales is within a short drive and well worth a visit, as is Pembrey Country Park. What better way to spend the day, but at the races, Fos Las, Wales’s newest Race Course is nearby. For history lovers there are a string of wonderful medieval castles to explore including Laugharne, Llansteffan and Kidwelly to name but a few. The popular 2018 TV Series Keeping Faith is set in Laugharne and series 2 is set to air on S4C on 12th May or for those outside Wales Summer 2019.

Thank you. A lovely stay in a very comfortable cottage. We were very lucky with the weather, bright sunny and cold. There was a tremendous thunderstorm on Wednesday evening and watching the lightening over the castle was spectacular! Lots to see and do roundabout. We recommend the Fish and Chip Shop and the "Welsh Tea" at the Boathouse! We hope to return.
After a previous whistle-stop visit to Laugharne (quite a few years ago) I had reminded myself that a holiday cottage is usually just a base for us and that we are usually off exploring in the car all day, so my previous memories of a grey, drab place couldn't put a damper on our holiday... well I stand corrected, we have had colour, sunshine (& hail & rain) and local adventures a-plenty. I am so pleased that we visited again, with our 5 year old Grandson and the dog. We have walked, climbed hills, explored, visited the Boathouse, walked around the town, ate at Portreeves (very nice food with friendly staff) and found Laugharne to be a fabulous base to explore further afield. Watching the tides has been great - our grandson loved returning to the village at high tide to see if we could get 'home' each day. Thank you for the welcome note and tide warning, the tide times booklet came in handy and for the flowers, Welsh Cakes and wine. We love the cottage and its quirkiness, especially the mixed collection of wall art. We will return.
Had another lovely week. Weather great, we were so lucky. Very interesting watching the filming of Keeping Faith. Thanks for the gifts, much appreciated.
A lovely cottage, with beautiful views over the Estuary & Castle. A great base for visiting Amroth, Saundersfoot, Tenby & Narbeth. Dylan Thomas's Boat House and Writing Shed an absolute must visit. The Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk gives breathtaking views over the Estuary. Lovely friendly pubs in the village. Really enjoyed our week and would recommend this cottage in Laugharne. P.S Thank you for the Welsh Cakes and wine, very much appreciated.
We've really enjoyed our first time in South Wales and it certainly won't be our last. We've eaten all our breakfasts outside as we couldn't get enough of the fabulous view from the terrace. We've had some great walks/days out. We would recommend: - a boat trip with Broadside Cruises, from just outside the front door - Stackpole Quay and the coastal walk - Rhosili Bay - The Boathouse & Dylan's Birthday Walk.
How fortunate we have been to arrive in Laugharne at the start of the 'Laugharnival'. We have enjoyed hymns in the park, Proms in the park, Under Milk Wood and will be sorry to miss the carnival and the community sing along. Perhaps whoever follows us in this lovely cottage will enjoy them for us. What an enterprising community you have here. We will miss the ever changing view, sitting out the front watching the world go by. We are sorry to leave this everlasting place. Wonderful to have found it and to see you again Gillian, after all these years.
We've had a wonderful week here - cottage in a perfect spot and so peaceful, breakfast outside every morning watching the tides - had a few high tides too!!! Very friendly village with lovely places to eat. Oscar our Border Terrier was in his element, us too. Thank you.
Super weather, a relaxing week here. Didn't use car at all, happy to stay in Laugharne all week. Good to have the tide timetables this visit, so no worry about the car parking! Thank you, Wendy & Mollie dog.
Had a lovely week, great area, lots of nice walks with our Labrador Chase Very lucky with the weather.
Lovely stay, beautiful spot. We will be back I hope. Thanks for flowers, wine, cake and on the most part glorious weather!
A lovely stay in beautiful cottage & glorious surroundings.
Thank you, we had a great week, lovely walks with our dog Ozzie. We were lucky to have the warmest bank holiday Monday. We enjoyed exploring Pembrokeshire from this great location. Nice friendly locals in The Mariners. Many thanks.
Have enjoyed our fifth stay - weather much better than the forecast - yesterday warm and sunny (=gap in cloud in all other directions) - tea at 'The Boathouse'. Accidentally found very good "Cheese Shed" in the Preselli hills. Dog dug holes on several sandy beaches. Thanks, Sally.
2 Strand Cottage is a little oasis of calmness which is just what I needed. The weather wasn't great, but a real fire and a beautiful view was enough of a break to recharge the batteries. Had a lovely time here. Thanks xx
It was very hard to leave your cottage this morning - we had a lovely time - thank you.
Had a wonderful stay in your lovely cottage. Great estuary walks in beautiful sunny weather and food which we really enjoyed at 'The Owl & The Pussycat' and the 'Portreeve'! Hope to return sometime. Thank you.
It's quite something being able to see and hear cuckoos from your sofa! We've had a lovely time with fantastic weather. Very peaceful and beautiful. Thank you!
Came to chill and certainly did that! Cottage in superb location for walking, if you meet Bobat Salt house Farm, he is great for walking information and local advice. West Angle Bay fantastic and wonderful walk around the headland towards the village, on way back would recommend visiting Castlemartin firing range spectator area if red flags flying, better than any arcade game watching Tanks firing at targets (not good if you don't like loud bangs!!) Bosherston Lily ponds great for peaceful walk, had a good plate of food at St Govans Country Inn, just up the road from the Lily Ponds. Had a great week and dont want to go home. Jack the terrier had a good time too, but looks like he wants a rest! Great little cottage.

The cottage was perfect and in an idyllic location. Met the dogs and the cat and the busy crows collecting sticks for their nexts. The most relaxing 4 days we have had in a long time. Love the fire and the home comforts.

A lovely, peaceful and tranquil holiday. Lots of thought put into those little extras (umbrellas! bottle of wine etc). Thankyou for a lovely holiday.
A wealth of peace and tranquility. The tides wash away all worry and stress. A haven of love, a cottage full of happiness. Just to say a big thankyou for every single little detail in the cottage that shows incredible thoughtfulness.
